Lessons, Cancellations & Expirations
Private Lessons & Prepayment
Private lessons are 55 minutes long and conducted by appointment only. All private lessons must be pre-paid in advance via standard or competitive lesson packages. Standing appointments establish the consistent momentum essential for steady progress.
Cancellation Timeline
- Single-Hour Lessons (24-Hour Rule): Require 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a full lesson charge deducted from your package.
- Two-Hour Lesson Blocks (48-Hour Rule): Require 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made 24–48 hours in advance incur a 1-lesson charge; cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a full block charge.
Make-Up Lessons, Emergency Passes & Guest Coaching
Same-Week Make-Up Opportunity
If you must cancel a standing appointment, you may request a make-up lesson within the same calendar week (subject to instructor availability). Requests must be submitted via text or email within 24 hours of cancellation to preserve your weekly momentum at no additional charge.
Package Emergency Pass
Recognizing life's unpredictability, each 10-lesson package includes one non-cumulative emergency pass allowing a single fee-waived cancellation for urgent circumstances (e.g., sudden illness) at the studio's discretion.
Guest Faculty & Visiting Coaches
Because visiting coach travel and scheduling are fixed, cancellations for guest faculty lessons with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be rebooked and will be charged in full.
Account & Value Expiration
- Account Expiration: Lessons on account expire one year after the date of your last lesson taken. Extensions may be granted for extenuating circumstances at the owners’ discretion.
- Monetary Value Expiration: The cash value of purchased lessons expires six (6) months after purchase. After six months, no monetary refund will be considered.
Payments, Tiers & Refunds
Payment Methods & Competitive Rates
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards (plus digital options) via Square. A $40 fee applies to all returned/bounced checks.
Competitive Tier Criteria: Discounted competitive package rates require a commitment to at least two extra-studio events per year and participation in guest coach offerings scheduled by the studio.
Standard Lesson Refunds
Students may cancel enrollment for any reason. Refunds are available for unreturned lessons purchased within the previous six (6) months, minus a $40 processing fee and applicable credit card processing charges. Refunds are processed within 30 days of a formal written request.
Outside Events & Competitions
Event organizers establish their own refund terms. Studio and students agree to abide by the hosting organizer’s rules. These situations are evaluated case-by-case.
Specialized Outside Services
Services involving outside professionals (travel, lodging, floor charges, etc.) are generally non-refundable to the studio. Any refund consideration is handled case-by-case at the sole discretion of the owners.
Studio Etiquette & Attire
Inclement Weather Shoe Policy
In rain or snow, outdoor footwear tracks water, salt, and grit onto the ballroom floor, destroying the dancing surface. Please bring a clean, separate pair of shoes to change into upon arriving at the studio during wet or snowy weather.
Attire Recommendations
- Clothing: Any comfortable, presentable clothing that permits unhindered movement is welcome.
- Footwear: Avoid athletic/running shoes with thick rubber soles that grip or twist knees. Dress shoes suitable for a wedding or social event are ideal. Women’s shoes with ankle support and straps are recommended.
- Ballroom Shoes: Regular students are encouraged to purchase purpose-built dance shoes through the studio or authorized retailers. Ask your instructor for guidance.
Parking & Facility Notices
- Parking: Ample parking is located directly in front of the main entrance at the rear of the building. Please avoid using the side parking strip belonging to the neighboring business south toward Meijer.
- Studio Notices: Please check the studio bulletin boards upon arrival for active schedules, special announcements, and community updates.
- Privacy Commitment: Your personal contact details are kept strictly confidential and will never be shared or sold to outside parties.
Physical Condition & Health
Ballroom dancing is a form of physical exercise. Students participate at their own risk and are responsible for consulting a physician to confirm physical fitness prior to initiating lessons. Please communicate any physical limitations, injuries, or movement concerns to your instructor before starting your session.
